ABOUT ME

I’m a contractor specialising in embedded systems, mainly in the consumer digital electronics space. I generally work on the lowest levels of these systems, bringing up new hardware, debugging systems, porting and updating operating systems. I have ported Linux to several new architectures and new hardware, written numerous device drivers for standard and custom hardware. I also have experience with Android, both the AOSP (bringing up Android on custom hardware and upgrading the entire system) and Java app development.

Prior to working on Linux I mainly worked with Real Time Operating Systems, writing and maintaining OS/20 for the ST20, and worked on the internals of several commercial RTOS including VxWorks and pSOS.

As well as software development I've managed teams (both local and remote) and am used to working on all aspects of product development, from specification through to final product, working with hardware designers, marketing, sales, field engineers and directly with end customers.
